Quality Assurance Specialist

The Opportunity

As a Quality Assurance Specialist, your goal is to ensure our products are built to the standards set by all levels of the organization:  the dev team, product team, stakeholders, and most importantly our customers.  You will: 

  • Help translate the Product team roadmap into acceptance criteria attached to user stories
  • Discover new, or clarify existing requirements by identifying edge cases
  • Plan, create and execute detailed test cases in conjunction with sprint stories
  • File defects in the backlog encountered when testing new or existing features
  • Partner with developers to help debug and isolate defect root causes and steps to reproduce
  • Be a subject matter expert (SME) for how our products work
  • Collaborate with peers to find optimizations in the dev cycle, to automate and accelerate overall team velocity
  • Manage test and staging environments
  • Design, build and execute automation scripts using open source tools
  • Spread knowledge and best practices regarding how to use our products
  • Demonstrate the software to stakeholders

Role Requirements

  • 2-3 years of QA and/or development experience
  • Strong technical acumen, and attention to detail
  • Excellent written documentation skills and organization
  • Wide environment management experience in Windows/Linux, use of Docker containers
  • Repository deployment and maintenance in Git, BitBucket, etc
  • Development project management tools like JIRA, project charter oversight
  • Experience cataloging and reporting to support technological research programs like SRED, IRAP (bonus)
